Community Ambassadors

Who we are.

Branch Brook Park Alliance - Community Ambassadors are a network of professionals who donate generously their time and talent in support of ongoing stewardship and activation of Essex County Branch Brook Park. Members are passionate about preservation, activation and maintenance through volunteerism and philanthropy.

What we do. 

Through three committees, participating members support Branch Brook Park Alliance in a manner that is consistent with the organization's vision, mission and goals. 

Programs Committee

Our team of volunteers support Branch Brook Park Alliance in placing a spotlight on existing programs through our connections.  In addition, we design, develop and implement programs aligned with community interest. Examples such as art and wellness fairs, and exercise activities. 

History & Digitization ​Committee

Our team of volunteers support Branch Brook Park Alliance through technology. Whether developing new tools for the website or social media, we are using technology to highlight the historical significance of the park and salient features such as the formal gardens.

Survey ​Committee

Our team of volunteers support Branch Brook Park Alliance in capturing community voices on a variety of topics. Through data and analytics we are able to assist in making informed decisions about the needs of the community.

Commitment

  • Every member must actively participate on at least one planning committee. 
  • Minimum of 5 volunteer hours per month and 60 hours per year. Consisting of a (1) hour monthly general session, (1) hour monthly committee planning session and (3) hours of volunteer service in support of your designated committee impact.

  • Access to a private tours with conservancy staff for up to 10 of your colleagues, family and friends.
  • Networking opportunities with other professionals in the community. 

Collective Impact & Projects Completed

  • Donated financial resources in support of our efforts through a traditional give/get  model of funding in support of Community Ambassador sponsored activities resulting in gifts and sponsorship equaling over $5,000. In addition co-authoring and serving two grant proposals to expand community engagement programs. 
  • Developed and led three in-person historical tours.
  • Developed a survey to capture community voices. 
  • Designed an online interactive park map that incorporates historical elements of the park using a variety of media.
  • Supported a Branch Brook Park Alliance intern in developing an online interactive and informational representation of our formal gardens. 
  • Developed and implemented Branch Brook Park Fest, a free community event supporting over 50 local artists and artisans while elevating health outcomes for hundreds of park guests. 
  • Volunteered in stewardship to a Branch Brook Park cleanup day. 
  • Volunteered to facilitate health and wellbeing programs such as Boot Camp and Capoeira and a six-week seasonal running club. ​
  • Surveyed and identified missing audio-tour signage that was replaced by Essex County Department of Parks.
