These grants will fund a renovation of the Middle Division ballfields complex, to begin in the summer of 2004:

  • New drainage system and turf.
  • Repositioning of ballfields and viewing stands to allow better sightlines.
  • State-of-the-art lighting, irrigation, scoreboard, and sound systems.
  • A new field house with press box, storage, and bathrooms.
  • Renovation and reconstruction of the Rick Cerone Field House, adding bathrooms and storage.

The Middle Division ballfields complex serves more than 5,000 children, youth, and adults participating in recreational programs provided by the City of Newark, the Newark Board of Education, and Little League teams sponsored by a variety of non-profit organizations.
